As the CEO of a relatively small charity, although admittedly growing in popularity and demand, I find myself regularly being jack of all trades and certainly master of none and sometimes a work day will pass by and I wonder where the time has gone and indeed what has been achieved. However, as I enthused last week, I was really looking forward to visiting some of our supported living properties and as anticipated, it was lovely and the staff team are doing a great job helping people to enjoy good lives. It had been bought to my notice that certain staff members have been doing way above and beyond, responding at short notice to emergency situations, so I wrote to them to express my thanks. It was great to receive a reply back as follows: ” I love working for Care4all and I will always do my upmost to help where I can, after all we are all one big team with the same aim and we should all support each other when required. But once again thank you” What a smashing endorsement……
I’m also pleased to report that due to the current success of our Meals on Wheels Service, we have scrapped one of our ailing vehicles and replaced it with a brand new lease van – I came across said vehicle and the driver this morning and she was clearly as pleased as punch and to be honest so am I – our quest is now to get to the stage when we can afford to replace the other veteran vehicles and advertise a fleet that we can be proud of.
Despite the fact that being the boss isn’t always the easy option, I can honestly say that life is never dull …….
