Life has still not returned to normal after recent events but the world of Care4all continues to keep me on my toes – I never know what the day will bring!
In the course of my work I have lots of dealings with local authorities and CCGs and whilst the folk I come across are invariably well meaning and often very knowledgeable they have the disadvantage of working for bureaucracies which must be very frustrating. (of course it is – I worked for such organisations for many years!) Anyway, the reason for my observation is due to a telephone call that I received from a local authority (I stress not North East Lincolnshire) not more than 15 minutes ago stating that they were cancelling a meeting about a new supported living service for a learning disabled gentleman who currently has no permanent home, and for the sake of his health and well being needs to be settled as soon as possible. This gentleman has recently experienced a bereavement of a close relative and at the age of 45 years his world has been thrown into turmoil – the caller was well aware of the situation. As you can imagine the reason for the cancellation and rescheduling for several weeks hence left me incredulous – it is National Learning Disability Week and they have events planned!! I do believe that the person who rang me felt quite embarrassed and if I had been her I would have been tempted to fabricate a different excuse……
Anyway, on a lighter note, things are going pretty well for Care4all – our services are increasingly in demand, everyone continues to work very hard and you never know, the sun might shine again soon!
