We all have our favourite work activities; apart from talking (!), mine is getting out and about and meeting the people we support and the staff. Then again, one of my least favourite is delivering training; however sometimes I’m taken by surprise as I was today. Myself and a colleague delivered safeguarding adults foundation training as part of an induction day for new staff and the level of enthusiasm and interaction by all who attended was great. Roll on the next training session – I’ll be there with my boots blacked!
In my last blog (a few of you may have read it) I had a good old rant about another local authority cancelling a meeting about setting up a supported living service for a 45 year old learning disabled gentleman and the reason for the cancellation was the fact that it was National Learning Disability Week. Well, I have very good news; the meeting went ahead earlier this week; all the right people were around the table and they very quickly made a decision. I was delighted, thanked them profusely and am very much looking forward to seeing the development of a supported living service in a new area; it looks like that Care4all is in danger of no longer just being a local charity…….
